Lake Tahoe Activities

A few of our favorite Lake Tahoe activities.

Bike Rental

Sports LTD is a great choice for bicycle rentals. To get there, go down Kingsbury Grade towards the lake. Once you hit the bottom, which is Highway 50 (Lake Tahoe Blvd), turn left. You’ll pass the casinos, then Marriott Village on your left. Directly across the street from Marriott Village is Raley’s. Sports LTD is a couple stores down from Raley’s in the same shopping center.

Snow Skiing

The biggest and most famous ski areas are probably Squaw Valley (northwest) and Heavenly Valley (southeast). There are quite a few other Lake Tahoe ski areas as you come in from the north along I-80 and 89 – Boreal, Soda Springs, Sugar Bowl, Donner Ski Ranch, Alpine Meadows, and Homewood. Northstar sits between Truckee and Kings Beach along 267. On the northeast of the lake is Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose in the Incline Village area. Heavenly is the only option in South Lake Tahoe, and it is a great mountain – you can check out their website with trailmaps at http://skiheavenly.com. If you visit in summer, take the ski lift to the top of the mountain for spectacular views. For a ten percent discount on Heavenly lift tickets, buy tickets in advance at http://skiheavenly.com.
